Whether it’s a skin tag, mole, blood spot, seborrhoeic wart, milia or thread veins, these kinds of blemishes can often be cosmetically irritating and have an impact on our self confidence. But did you know that these blemishes can be treated quickly and easily from as little as £50? As you can read in the Advanced Cosmetic Procedures section of MediZen's website, most people only need 1 treatment lasting just a few minutes! Watch this Advanced Electrolysis Skin Tag removal video to see how brief and simple the treatment is. Alternatively, read our Advanced Electrolysis ACP Reviews and find out what our Birmingham ACP customers think. What is Advanced Electrolysis and How does it work?

A tiny, sterile needle (the size and width of an eyelash) is carefully inserted into, or beside, the blemish that is being treated. A very small current of heat is passed into the blemish. This ‘dries up’ the vessels that feed into the area of concern, leading to a visible reduction in the appearance of the blemish.

What does Advanced Electrolysis feel like?

The feeling is often described as a hot scratch. Most people find slightly uncomfortable, though you will find the treatment to be brief and simple. If required, you may have some numbing cream on the area before the treatment if you have a low pain threshold; this will be discussed during the consultation.

What are the possible ACP risks?

Our clients rarely experience side effects with this treatment. Initially, the area after treatment may scab and appear red, but this is temporary and will improve over a period of time. There is a very low risk of a slight pigmentation change for some of the blemishes. This is uncommon however, but when it does occur clients prefer the slight pigmentation change to the blemish that was there before it.

What can Advanced Cosmetic Procedures treat?

There are over 21 differnt blemishes that Advanced Electrolysis can treat. We’ve listed some these below with information about them.

Telangiectasia/Thread veins:

Cause - Thread veins tend to develop as we age because our skin and blood vessels become less elastic. Hormonal changes associated with pregnancy and the menopauses are thought to provoke their development, meaning that women are more prone to them than men.

Results from ACP – Vessels will fade or completely disappear, but once vessels have been removed they will not come back. New ones can form over time to any skin predisposed to them.

How many treatments? – Most people will need 1 treatment for a small area of vessels. Larger areas will require 2 or more treatments.

Spider Naevi:

Cause - Spider naevi can be caused from injuries, sun exposure and hormonal changes or, in some extreme cases, liver disease.

Results from ACP - Vessels will fade or completely disappear, but once vessels have been removed they will not come back. New ones can form over time to any skin predisposed to them.

How many treatments? – 1-2 treatments are commonly needed but you may need more depending on the size and amount of blemishes.

Campbell D’Morgans/Blood spots/Chery angioma:

Cause - Clusters of dilated capillaries can create small red or purple bumps on the skin, usually on the chest and back.

Results from ACP – Small size: Immediate disappearance

Medium size: Colour change to grey/beige

Large size: Scab will form but will drop off, may have slight pigmentation change.

How many treatments? - For small-medium sized blood spots 1 treatment will be required, for larger ones 2 treatments may be needed.

Skin tags:

Cause – They are usually found on the neck, in the armpits, around the groin, or under the breasts where you get rubbing against other parts of skin or clothing. However, it is often found that some people are predisposed to skin tag and experience them for no known reason.

Results from ACP (see our ACP Skin Tag Removal Before & After Photos) – Immediate removal usually. If the skin tag doesn’t fall off at the time of treatment it will come off a few days later. After 4-6 weeks there should be very little evidence that the tag was ever present, sometimes a small hyperpigmented, freckle-like spot may be visible.

How many treatments? – Most people only need 1 session for their desired result. Skin tags will not grow back in the same area, though others can grow elsewhere if you are predisposed to them.

______________________________________________________________

Milia:

Cause – They occur when the skin can't remove dead skin cells. That means, instead of being sloughed of, the cells get trapped and clog oil-producing pores that form a hardened spot like lump.

Results from ACP – Most milia will dry & disappear within a few days or up to 7-10 days post treatment.

How many treatments? – Most milia only need 1 treatment. If they are large then you may need a second treatment.

Common wart:

Please be aware GP approval will be needed prior to treatment

Cause - They are caused by the HPV virus, when the virus invades this outer layer of skin, usually through a tiny scratch. It can cause rapid growth of cells on the outer layer of skin creating the wart.

Results from ACP – The treatment will initiate drying, crusting, scabbing and shrinking of the tissue until eventual removal will take place. Permanent removal of warts is difficult and they do often return.

How many treatments? – Treatment of warts needs to be quite aggressive to be successful, and so multiple treatments will be required.

Seborrhoeic keratoses/Seborrhoeic wart:

Please be aware GP approval will be needed prior to treatment

Cause – This type of wart is commonly inherited, and there have also been some studies to show that they can be caused by sun damage, pregnancy or after oestrogen replacement therapy.

Results from ACP – Immediate removal. Be aware that, when healing, there may be a slight hyper pigmented lesion at the site. Full healing will take 4-8 weeks on average.

How many treatments? – Most people will only need 1 treatment, but you may need a second treatment if the blemish is large.

______________________________________________________________

Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra:

Cause - The papules are small Seborrhoeic keratoses found on darker skins and are genetically determined in 40-50% of people.

Results from ACP – Immediate removal. Be aware there is a slight possibility that there may be hyper/hypo pigmentation underneath where the blemish was.

How many treatments? - Most people will only need 1 treatment.

______________________________________________________________

Fibro Epithelial Polyp (flesh coloured skin tag):

Cause - These are usually found on the neck, in the armpits, around the groin, or under the breasts where the area rubs against other parts of the skin or clothing. However some people are predisposed to these skin tags and experience them for no known reason.

Results from ACP – Immediate removal usually. If it doesn’t fall off at the time of treatment it will usually happen a couple of days later.

How many treatments? – Most people only need 1 treatment and the skin tag will not grow back in the same area. If you are predisposed to them it is possible they will form again.

______________________________________________________________

Moles:

Please be aware GP approval will be needed prior to treatment

Cause - Moles occur when cells in the skin grow in a cluster instead of being spread throughout the skin. These cells are called melanocytes, and they make the pigment that gives skin its natural colour. Moles may darken after exposure to the sun, during the teen years, and during pregnancy.

Results from ACP – Eventual reduction in the appearance colour of the mole.

How many treatments? – Some people are happy after 1 treatment but this depends on the individual client and how the blemish reacts. ______________________________________________________________

Age Spots:

Cause – Age spots can be brought on by natural ageing, exposure to the sun, lack of exercise, poor diet or poor liver function. Results from ACP – The skin will be open meaning it will scab over and initally look much worse before it looks better. Healing can take several weeks but once healing is complete there should be little or no evidence of the age spot.

How many treatments? – Most people will need 1 treatment.

______________________________________________________________

Sebaceous cyst:

Please be aware GP approval will be needed prior to treatment

Cause – A sebaceous cyst forms out of your sebaceous gland, which produces the skin oil called sebum. Cysts can develop if the gland becomes damaged or blocked, which is usually occurs due to a trauma to the area.

Results from ACP – Normally immediate removal, in some cases the contents of the cyst needs to be extracted. If the cyst is large it can be cauterised and will normally fall off within a few days.

How many treatments? – Most people will need 1 treatment. ______________________________________________________________

Plane wart/flat wart:

Cause - They are caused by the HPV virus, when the virus invades this outer layer of skin, usually through a tiny scratch. The wart created through a rapid growth of cells on the outer layer of skin.

Results from ACP – Cauterisation will take place and any dry skin will fall off in a few days.

How many treatments? – Most people will need 1 treatment.

______________________________________________________________

Xanthelasma (yellow lumps around eyes):

Cause – A build up of fats (lipids) under the skin, particularly around the eye area. Results from ACP – There will be a reduction in size and appearance but the colour can not be changed.

How many treatments? - It will re grow overtime and need further treatment. ______________________________________________________________

Sebaceous Hyperplasia (raised doughnut shaped blemish):

Cause – The cause of this blemish is unknown, but research has shown it can be inherited or caused by excessive oil glands. Middle and older aged people tend to be more prone.

Results from ACP – Immediate removal with some scabbing.

How many treatments? – Most people need 1 treatment.
