Stretch Marks

Stretch marks are narrow lines or streaks that can appear on the surface of the skin. Both women and men can experience them, although they tend to be particularly common for women during and after pregnancy.

They develop when the middle layers of skin are stretched over a short period of time, causing a tear which resembles a form of scarring in the deeper layers of the skin. This explains why sudden changes in weight or muscle size, and quick growth bursts during puberty can also cause stretch marks as well.

Most often, stretch marks appear on the abdomen (or stomach), thighs or buttocks. They first appear in a red or purple shade, gradually turning less visible to become a silver or white colour. Most of these marks are hard to notice, but some people are embarrassed by their appearance and find them unattractive.

Each year, cosmetic companies spend millions of pounds in advertising to bombard us with messages for anti stretch mark creams or miracle stretch mark removal cures.  However, in reality, creams and serums from Boots or supermarkets will not stop the formation of Stretch Marks and don’t solve the problem.

If you have tried these products and are looking for a more effective solution, MediZen can help with a range of simple, non surgical solutions that can make real differences in the appearance of Stretch Marks.

Treat Stretch Marks at MediZen with the following recommended Treatments

Dermaroller

Dermaroller is a process of Medical Skin Needling which involves causing minor trauma to the skin to stimulate the body’s own natural production of collagen. This encourages the skin’s regeneration process to restore youthful and fresher looking skin. Offering minimal downtime, the treatment has been used successfully to treat fine lines, wrinkles, lax and sun-damaged skin; to reduce the appearance of stretch marks; and to improve acne scars.

Collagen PIN

Collagen PIN (Percutaneous Induction Needling, also referred to as PCIT, Percutaneous Collagen Induction Therapy is known as micro-needling, or automated micro-needling) is a method of introducing a controlled wound into the skin, which then activates a release of natural growth factors, new collagen and elastin, visibly reducing signs of ageing such as fine lines and wrinkles. The Collagen PIN uses 36 micro needles which during treatment create micro channels inducing a controlled injury thereby naturally stimulating collagen giving way to healthier, younger looking skin.

eTwo Skin Tightening

eTwo’s Skin Tightening treatment is called Sublime, which stimulates the skin to remodel itself and improve elasticity, smooth out folds and iron out mild to moderate lines and wrinkles. Sublime’s sister treatment, called Sublative, is a Skin Rejuvenation treatment that evens out discoloured skin, scarring and repairs sun damage. Both can be performed in the same session to help your skin look it’s very best.
