With the aesthetics industry evolving, which trends and treatments should you look out for in 2025? In 2025, regenerative and laser-based therapies are leading the way, such as polynucleotides, AviClear and laser genesis. However, some risky procedures, such as lemon bottle fat dissolving injections and non-surgical BBLs, are also trending despite safety concerns. This article explores which aesthetic treatments you should try in 2025 and which ones you should avoid

The Rise of 2025 Aesthetic Trends

The aesthetics industry is a constantly changing speciality. New technologies, new products and new devices are continuously hitting the market. In the UK alone, there are over 1000 aesthetic clinics and the industry is set to be worth a staggering ÂŁ5.6 billion by 2026. This means that the treatment range being offered to patients is increasing year on year. Many patients struggle to know which treatments are worth the investment and which are a fleeting trend with little evidence or effectiveness. The 2025 aesthetic trends we will focus on are innovative and science-backed treatments.

The Aesthetic Treatments You Should Try in 2025

Polynucleotides

One of the most anticipated new aesthetic treatments of 2025 is polynucleotides. Regenerative medicine is becoming more and more popular as people are beginning to focus on more natural aesthetic treatments. Polynucleotides are one of the main driving forces behind this change in consumer behaviour.

Polynucleotides are a groundbreaking treatment which stimulates natural tissue regeneration and rejuvenates your skin on a cellular level. When injected into the skin, they stimulate your own cells to boost collagen and elastin, things we lose as we age. Essentially, this injectable bio-stimulator encourages your cells to act as they would have when you were younger. They are particularly effective for scarring, pigmentation, skin laxity and texture.

The beauty of polynucleotides is they are suitable for all skin types, all ages and can be used on most areas of the face and body. They are well known for their effective use around the eye area as they can be used right up to the eyes, unlike other injectable treatments. Patients will require three or four treatments 2-3 weeks apart for maximum results, followed by maintenance every 9-12 months.

AviClear Acne Laser

AviClear is among the most exciting 2025 aesthetic trends. This revolutionary laser acne treatment launched in the UK last year after taking the US acne market by storm. Here at MediZen, we were one of just five clinics in the country to offer AviClear to patients for the majority of 2024. This gives our patients the chance to live a life with clear skin.

This laser is the first and original FDA-approved laser device for the treatment of mild, moderate and severe acne. AviClear uses the power of laser light to selectively target and suppress the sebaceous glands, eliminating acne at the source. It’s suitable for all skin types, all ages and all severities of acne. Most patients require just three 30-minute treatments!

Alternative acne treatments, such as prescription medications, target the entire body and can often leave people with a wide range of severe side effects. AviClear specifically targets the area with acne, rather than the whole body, which means side effects are minimal and there is little to no downtime. AviClear is recognised by the FDA as a proven treatment for the long-term clearance of acne. 92% of patients in the clinical study saw at least half their acne resolved 12 months post-treatment. With these figures, it’s one of the top new aesthetic treatments of 2025.

Laser Genesis

Laser Genesis remains a favourite among our patients and is set to be a major part of the 2025 aesthetic trends. Laser Genesis is a laser facial, which gently heats the dermis (located below the skin’s surface). We’ve been offering this treatment for a number of years now. However, since it has recently taken off on social media, more and more people are now searching for clinics who offer this treatment.

Laser Genesis is a fantastic, relaxing laser facial which provides effective results. It helps to make the skin firmer and creates a more even complexion. By stimulating collagen regrowth, Laser Genesis effectively:

  • Reduces redness
  • Tightens pores
  • Improves tone and texture
  • Reduces oil production
  • Tightens the skin.

Many patients will see benefits after just one session, but we recommend monthly treatments for maximum results.

In order to provide patients with the best possible results, here at MediZen we combine Laser Genesis with treatments such as Hydrafacial and Chemical Peels. This allows us to cleanse and exfoliate the skin alongside stimulating collagen to improve the overall appearance of the skin. HydraGenesis and Peel Genesis are the ultimate facials. They are a real go-to before a special occasion or event due to minimal downtime and immediate results.

Are There Aesthetic Treatments You Should Avoid in 2025?

Whilst some aesthetic treatments are set to be huge in 2025, there are also some that may seem popular, but we’d recommend avoiding…

Lemon Bottle

The fat dissolving injection Lemon Bottle blew up on TikTok last year, with over 80 million views across the social media platform. It was a clear example of how these trends can quickly escalate and spread misinformation to the masses. Thousands of unqualified practitioners are injecting this product into their patients without the required anatomy training to administer injections like this.

Lemon Bottle has no approval in the UK, no license in the UK, no short or long-term safety data and no evidence of its efficacy or safety. No reputable pharmacy in the UK will stock this product and no reputable doctor or nurse would offer this treatment to their patients. Just because thousands of people on social media claim to have had successful results, does not mean it is safe to be used.

Non Surgical BBL / Bum Filler

The demand for non-surgical BBLs continues, but very few medical professionals in the UK offer this procedure due to its high risks. This is a treatment that should only be performed in a surgical environment by someone specially trained and experienced. If qualified doctors with advanced anatomy training and years of experience won’t offer this procedure, it raises concerns. You should ask yourself how a non-medical professional would have the skillset to safely offer a non-surgical BBL.

A tragic example occurred in 2024 when Alice Webb, a 33 year-old mother of 5 underwent a non-surgical BBL procedure. It was performed by a non-medic and she later died due to complications from the treatment. Her family has since campaigned for the government to ban liquid BBL procedures so that a tragedy like this doesn’t happen to anyone else. The risk of these procedures far outweighs any benefits. We urge you to think twice before going ahead with any treatment of this nature.

Injectable Treatments Performed by Non-Medics

The UK is the only country in the world to have an unregulated aesthetics industry. This means there are no required qualifications, medical training or accreditations required to inject treatments such as Botox and Dermal Filler. Absolutely anyone could attend a one day course and offer injectable treatments to the public the following day. This leaves many patients vulnerable to unsafe treatments, botched results and quite often complications.

Medical professionals have years of medical experience. You should choose them for these treatments because:

  • They have a vast understanding of the anatomy of the face and body and will have likely spent many years specialising in medical aesthetics.
  • They are registered with the General Medical Council.
  • They have insurance and are held accountable by multiple regulatory bodies.

Non-medics do not have the required anatomy training or experience to be injecting anything into another person and are not held accountable to anyone if anything goes wrong.

Many non-medics are good at what they do, especially those who have been injecting for a number of years, so you may experience good results with some practitioners. The important thing to remember is that they do not have the tools, skillset or experience to deal with any complications should they arise. Don’t be sucked in by cheap pricing. You pay for training, experience and safety. Don’t put your life at risk in order to save a few pounds.
