Overview

Most people will probably find that they grind their teeth and clench their jaw quite often, occasionally doing this should not cause any harm. However, when teeth grinding and jaw clenching occur on a regular basis (Bruxism) this can cause damage to teeth.

The cause of Bruxism is mostly attributed to stress and anxiety. Many people experience symptoms of a dull, constant headache or a sore jaw, this can occur throughout the day or you may wake up with symptoms if grinding happens in your sleep.

Our recommended treatment for Bruxism is muscle relaxing injections. This works by injecting a small dose of a toxin into the jaw, relaxing the muscle and in turn reducing the ability to to clench or grind. This treatment can take up to around 1-2 weeks to kick in and can last between 3-6 months.

Treatment is not permanent, as with any toxin treatments. This treatment can take up to around 1-2 weeks to kick in and can last between 3-6 months.
