At MediZen, truSculpt is the machine our team reaches for in one situation. Someone has eaten carefully and trained hard for a year. However, they still cannot budge the soft pocket over the lower stomach or along the flanks. It is a non-invasive treatment that uses radiofrequency to heat fat cells until the body clears them. On average, that means a 24% reduction in one session.

per treatment
Most people who book truSculpt in Birmingham arrive with one specific complaint. They are not looking to lose weight in general. A mother whose stomach never quite returned after her children. A man carrying a roll around the waistband that no amount of running will shift. Someone bothered by the fullness under the chin that shows up in every photograph. The treatment is for you if you are close to the shape you want. A defined area of fat is holding you back. It also suits you if you would rather sidestep surgery, general anaesthetic and weeks of recovery.
Our patients in Birmingham and Sutton Coldfield most often ask us to treat:
It is only fair to be clear about what truSculpt is not. It is not a weight-loss treatment and it will not change the number on the scales. If your aim is to lose a lot of weight overall, a sustainable approach to diet and activity comes first. For that, the NHS has sensible, no-nonsense guidance on reaching a healthy weight. truSculpt refines and contours, it does not replace that groundwork. Where the concern is a small, pinchable pocket rather than a broader area, we sometimes suggest CoolSculpting instead. Your practitioner will tell you honestly which route suits your body at the consultation.
truSculpt is a body sculpting platform made by Cutera, one of the established names in medical aesthetic technology. The version we run, truSculpt iD, sends controlled radiofrequency heat deep into the fat layer. Meanwhile, a cooled handpiece keeps the surface of the skin comfortable. The fat cells are warmed to the point where they can no longer survive. Over the following weeks, the body processes and clears them naturally. The clinical work behind the device reports an average fat reduction of around 24%. That figure applies to the treated area after a single treatment.
What makes it comfortable is that the heat builds gradually. Most people describe the sensation as a hot stone massage rather than anything clinical. It is a deep warmth that stays on the right side of pleasant. A single area takes about fifteen minutes, so a lunch break is enough time. Because nothing is cut or frozen, there is no bruising to hide and no downtime to plan around. The warmth in the treated area fades within an hour of leaving.
Radiofrequency does two things at once. It reduces the fat and firms the skin above it, so the result looks smooth rather than deflated. For the right patient, it is a genuinely effective way to treat a stubborn area without surgery.
The treatment suits every skin type, and unlike some contouring devices it can be worked safely over tattoos. At MediZen it is carried out by our experienced therapists and skin specialists. The clinic is medically led by Dr Eccleston. So, the assessment behind your plan is as careful as the treatment itself.
truSculpt has a sibling. truFlex is the muscle side of the family. It uses targeted electrical stimulation to contract the muscle far harder and more evenly than a workout can. As a result, it builds tone and definition underneath the skin. Where truSculpt takes fat away, truFlex builds the shape beneath it.
Put the two together and you have truBody, our most complete body sculpting programme. A truBody plan pairs fat-reducing truSculpt iD sessions with muscle-building truFlex sessions. So, a stomach is not just slimmer but flatter and firmer. In addition, a treated area looks worked rather than simply smaller. A typical plan runs as two truSculpt iD treatments alongside five or seven truFlex sessions. The final result builds over about twelve weeks.
The truFlex part feels quite different from the warmth of truSculpt. You feel a gentle contraction that climbs in intensity through the session, while staying comfortable. That is because the current reaches the muscle directly rather than the fat. Your practitioner will map out whether truSculpt on its own or the full truBody programme makes more sense for you. In addition, truBody is offered at a package price. That works out lower than booking each piece separately.
People weighing up body sculpting in Birmingham usually come across two names, truSculpt and CoolSculpting. Naturally, they wonder which is right for them. Both are non-invasive and both reduce stubborn fat without surgery, but they go about it in opposite ways. We offer both at MediZen, so here is an honest side by side to help you choose. You can read more about fat freezing on our CoolSculpting page.
Our team is extensively trained in every treatment they perform. These are the practitioners who carry out truSculpt at MediZen.

Every truSculpt plan begins with a consultation. So, the price reflects the number of areas you want to treat rather than a one-size figure. A course of two sessions is the usual recommendation for a single area. A course of three is available where more change is wanted, or where more than one area is being treated. The prices below apply at both our Birmingham and Sutton Coldfield clinics. If you are looking at fat reduction and muscle building together, the truBody packages combine truSculpt iD with truFlex. They work out better value than booking each separately.
Still weighing up truSculpt in Birmingham? These are the questions our patients ask most about the treatment itself, from comfort and safety through to sessions and downtime. For questions about your specific goal or what it costs, see the section just below.
truSculpt is a non-invasive treatment with a strong safety record, and MediZen is a medically led clinic registered with the Care Quality Commission. The radiofrequency energy is delivered by a cooled handpiece that protects the surface of your skin, and every plan starts with a consultation so we can confirm the treatment is suitable for you before we begin.
No. Most people describe it as a hot stone massage, a deep warmth that builds gradually and stays comfortable throughout. There are no needles and nothing sharp, and the cooled tip keeps the surface of the skin from getting too hot while the heat does its work below.
Yes. truSculpt heats the fat layer with radiofrequency until the treated cells can no longer survive, and your body clears them over the weeks that follow. The clinical work behind the device reports an average fat reduction of around 24% in the treated area after a single session. It performs best on a defined, stubborn area rather than as a way to lose weight all over, which is why the honest assessment at your consultation matters as much as the treatment.
For most people two sessions, spaced about twelve weeks apart, give the best result for a single area. Some patients choose a course of three where they want more change or are treating more than one area. Your practitioner sets out a realistic, personalised plan at your consultation rather than a fixed number for everyone.
None to speak of. The treated area is warm and slightly flushed for under an hour, and you may feel mildly tender for a few days, similar to the day after a workout. You can return to work, exercise and normal life straight away, which is why so many people book it around a lunch break.
Side effects are usually mild and short lived. Expect the treated area to feel warm and look a little flushed for under an hour, with some tenderness for a few days that resembles the ache after a hard session in the gym. Because nothing is cut or frozen, there is no bruising to hide and no wound to care for. We check that the treatment is suitable for you at the consultation before anything begins.
Your body clears the treated fat cells gradually, so change builds over the weeks that follow. Many people notice a difference within the first few weeks, with the full result at around twelve weeks after each session. Once fat cells are gone they do not return, so results are long lasting as long as you keep a stable weight.
For the right person, it is one of the most straightforward ways to shift a stubborn area without surgery, general anaesthetic or time off work. If you are close to the shape you want and a single pocket of fat is holding you back, most patients feel it earns its place. If your real aim is broad weight loss, it is not the right spend, and we will tell you so before you book rather than after.
truSculpt works well on the abdomen and lower stomach, the flanks and love handles, the thighs, the upper arms and under the chin. If a stubborn area is holding back an otherwise good shape, it is worth a conversation, and at your consultation we will tell you honestly whether the area you have in mind is a good fit.
To a degree, yes. The radiofrequency heat that reduces the fat also warms the skin above it, which encourages some firming as the area settles, so results tend to look smooth rather than deflated. Where loose skin is the main concern rather than fat, a dedicated skin-tightening treatment such as Secret PRO may suit you better, and we will be candid about which is the right tool for your skin.
Yes on both counts. truSculpt suits every skin type, and unlike some body contouring devices it can be worked safely over tattoos, so a tattoo across the stomach or arm is not a barrier to treatment.
No. We do not treat anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding, as body sculpting is best done once your body has settled. A good number of our patients come to us after having children, once they feel ready, to address the softness that never quite went. When the timing is right, book a consultation and we will map out a sensible plan for you.
There is no set age. We treat adults across a wide range, from people in their late twenties through to their sixties, as long as the skin and the area are a good fit. truSculpt is just as popular with men as with women, particularly for the stomach and flanks that resist the gym. Your practitioner looks at your skin and your goal at the consultation rather than going by age alone.
truSculpt reduces fat using radiofrequency heat, while truFlex builds and tones muscle using targeted electrical contractions. They solve different problems, and many patients combine them as truBody so an area is both slimmer and firmer. Your practitioner will advise which one, or which combination, fits your goal.
Yes, and it often is. The most common pairing is with truFlex muscle sculpting as part of a truBody plan, so an area comes away both slimmer and firmer. Depending on your goal, your practitioner might also suggest a skin-quality treatment such as Profhilo, and will sequence everything so each treatment has room to work.
There is refreshingly little to do. Drink plenty of water in the days after your session to help your body clear the treated fat, keep moving, and carry on as normal. There is no downtime to plan around, so you can head back to work or the gym the same day. Some people like to keep the overlying skin looking its best while the result settles.
truSculpt is performed by our experienced therapists and skin specialists in a clinic that is medically led by Dr David Eccleston. Every practitioner is trained in the treatments they deliver, and the medical oversight of the clinic sits behind everything we offer.
Wondering what truSculpt costs, or whether it is the right choice for your particular goal? These are the questions we hear most about pricing, the truBody and truFlex options, and how truSculpt compares with the alternatives.
truSculpt starts from £900 for a course of two sessions on a single area, with a course of three available for more areas or more change. The full price table is above, and you can see everything we offer across our treatments in Birmingham and Sutton Coldfield. The exact cost depends on how many areas you want treated, which we confirm at your consultation.
A single area over a course of two sessions is £900, and two areas over a course of two is £1,600. A course of three is £1,350 for one area and £2,000 for two. Because pricing is set by area, treating a couple of neighbouring areas in the same visit is often better value.
truBody combines fat-reducing truSculpt iD with muscle-building truFlex so an area is slimmer and firmer at the same time. A plan of two iD sessions with five truFlex sessions is £1,800, and two iD with seven truFlex is £2,200. Both are packaged to cost less than booking each treatment on its own.
truFlex is the muscle-building half of truBody, and for most people it is priced as part of a truBody package rather than sold by the single session. It uses targeted electrical stimulation to contract the muscle harder than a workout can, building tone underneath the skin. Ask us at your consultation and we will quote the plan that matches your goal.
Liposuction is a surgical procedure that removes fat under anaesthetic, with the recovery and downtime that surgery brings. truSculpt does its work from the outside using radiofrequency, so there are no incisions, no anaesthetic and nothing to recover from, though the change is more gradual and better suited to a defined, stubborn area than to a large volume of fat. At your consultation we will give you an honest read on whether a non-surgical route can achieve what you are hoping for.
It depends on your body. truSculpt heats and reduces fat evenly across a whole area and firms the skin as it goes, which suits softer, broader areas. CoolSculpting freezes an isolated, pinchable pocket. We offer both, so at your consultation we can look at the area honestly and point you to whichever gives the better result.
No, and we are always straight about this. truSculpt reduces a defined area of stubborn fat and refines your shape, but it will not lower your overall weight. If losing weight is the main goal, that starts with diet and activity, and for some patients a medically supervised route such as weight loss injections is a better first step. truSculpt is at its best once you are close to the shape you want.
Yes to both, and they are among the most requested areas. truSculpt reduces fullness under the chin and softens a stubborn stomach that has not responded to diet and exercise. For a very small, isolated pocket such as under the chin, some patients also consider injectable fat dissolving, and we will talk through which suits you.
Yes. MediZen treats patients from across Birmingham, Sutton Coldfield and the wider Midlands. Book a consultation and we will find a time that works and talk you through a plan for your body.
