CoolSculpting® is a fat reduction treatment based on the clinically proven science of Cryolipolysis® or fat freezing and came about in 1999 when scientists at Harvard University observed that some children who ate ice lollies got dimples in their cheeks. The scientists realized that the lollies were freezing and eliminating small pockets of fat cells. This was the insight that led to Cryolipolysis® - on which the CoolSculpting® fat freezing procedure is based – being used as a permanent fat reduction treatment.
How does it work?
Following an initial consultation to determine your suitability and expectations, the precisely controlled CoolSculpting® cooling cups are gently applied to the area to be treated. The cups safely remove heat from the fat cells beneath the skin, effectively freezing the fat (crystallising) which causes the cells to die. Over time, your body will process the dead fat cells and dispose of them naturally. Areas of ‘pinchable’ body fat that can be successfully treated with CoolSculpting® include saddlebags, mummy tummy, muffin tops, love handles, bra puffs, bingo wings, man boobs, abdomen, flanks, outer thigh, inner thigh, and double chins, to name but a few.
