Blog > Introducing AviClear – The FDA-Approved Laser Acne Treatment Introducing AviClear – The FDA-Approved Laser Acne Treatment By Alex Watkins 7 min read 23rd January It’s time to introduce you to AviClear, the world’s first FDA-approved laser for long-lasting clearance of mild, moderate and severe acne. For many years, most people suffering with acne have had to rely on prescription medication to achieve clear skin. AviClear is here to change all of that! So, What is AviClear? AviClear is a revolutionary laser created by the world-wide aesthetic device manufacturer, Cutera. This machine uses the power of laser light to selectively target and suppress the sebaceous glands (the source of all acne). The AviClear laser has been developed to effectively treat all skin types and all severities of acne quickly and safely. Tired of missing out on the moments that matter? AviClear acne treatment is here to give you a future with clear skin and help you feel your most confident self again. The recommended AviClear treatment for acne is three 30-minute sessions, each 4-6 weeks apart. How AviClear Works to Effectively Treat Acne To understand how the AviClear laser works, it’s important to understand how acne occurs. Sebaceous glands are located on the surface of the skin and are attached to hair follicles. These glands produce sebum (an oily substance). For people with acne, the sebaceous glands produce too much sebum. When the sebum mixes with dead skin, it can clog your pores and develop into a painful spot, such as a pustule or cyst. Most acne treatments don’t target the actual production of sebum but the AviClear laser specifically targets and suppresses the sebaceous glands, ultimately eliminating acne at its source. Following treatment, you will produce less oil and your acne will continue to get better and stay better. AviClear Acne Treatment Results 90% of trial patients experienced visible improvements in their acne six months after their final treatment 92% of patients saw at least half of their acne resolved at 12 months after their final treatment 9 out of 10 patients were satisfied or very satisfied with their results AviClear received additional FDA-clearance in 2023 as the first long-term treatment for mild to severe acne. Many trial patients recognised that the results of treatment got progressively better with time. Check out some before and after results from AviClear patients: AviClear Downtime One of the main benefits of AviClear treatment is that there is no downtime. Due to the laser being targeted specifically at the source of the acne, no other areas of the body are affected. This is the opposite to prescription acne medication which targets the entire body to treat the acne and therefore can cause severe side effects and downtime. Patients are able to resume normal activities immediately after AviClear treatment. Throughout clinical trials, no significant adverse events were observed. So when we say a future with clear skin is possible in just three 30-minute treatments, we mean it! A Tried and Tested Acne Treatment Delivering Outstanding Results AviClear was launched in North America back in 2022, and since then over 12,000 treatments have been performed. The device is not new: it has been used in clinical trials and on thousands of patients for more than two years now with incredible results. However, it is brand new to the UK! AviClear is now available in just five clinics across the UK. We’re delighted that MediZen, located in Birmingham, is one of these clinics. If you, or someone you know, is searching for an effective acne treatment with no downtime, get in touch with us today. A future with clear skin is waiting for you… FAQs Does AviClear treatment hurt?
