How AviClear Works to Effectively Treat Acne

To understand how the AviClear laser works, it’s important to understand how acne occurs. Sebaceous glands are located on the surface of the skin and are attached to hair follicles. These glands produce sebum (an oily substance). For people with acne, the sebaceous glands produce too much sebum. When the sebum mixes with dead skin, it can clog your pores and develop into a painful spot, such as a pustule or cyst. 

Most acne treatments don’t target the actual production of sebum but the AviClear laser specifically targets and suppresses the sebaceous glands, ultimately eliminating acne at its source. Following treatment, you will produce less oil and your acne will continue to get better and stay better.

Does AviClear treatment hurt?

AviClear is equipped with AviCool™ skin cooling. Its sensory controls maintain the skin’s temperature during treatment for a more comfortable experience. During treatment, you may notice a slight snapping sensation. In clinical studies, patients tolerated the treatment well without the need for pain mitigation or the need to stop the treatment session.

When can you see results? 

Results can be seen within a few months of treatment, however, most patients find their results continue to improve overtime. AviClear is FDA-approved for the long-term clearance of acne.

Am I suitable for AviClear treatment? 

If you have acne, you’re suitable! AviClear can be used all year round on all skin types and all forms of acne. Under 18s are welcome in the clinic for this laser acne treatment. We are, however, unable to use AviClear on anyone who has recently been on oral retinoid treatment. Please get in touch to see when you can undergo treatment.
