MediZen brings the HydraFacial to Birmingham as a proper reset for tired, congested skin. In one 60-minute treatment your skin is deeply cleansed, gently exfoliated and flooded with antioxidants and peptides. So you leave with a hydrated, genuinely radiant complexion.
The HydraFacial, delivered by experienced MediZen aestheticians.
per treatment
Maybe your skin looks tired, feels dehydrated or never quite seems clear no matter what you buy. A HydraFacial gives it back its glow in an hour. It suits almost everyone, which is part of why it has become one of our most requested treatments in Birmingham. People book it before a wedding or a big birthday. Others book it as a monthly habit to keep their skin in good order. For some it is a gentle first step into medical skincare.
The HydraFacial earns its place with:
It works on every skin type and every skin tone. Your aesthetician assesses your skin first and chooses the serums to match. So a treatment built for oily, breakout-prone skin looks different from one built around hydration and brightness. When the goal is longer-term firmness, we often pair it with faceStim facial toning. That works on tone at the same time.
It is not the right treatment for everyone, and we would rather tell you that at the start. If you have been treated for severe acne in the last 12 months, we will ask you to wait. The same applies with an active infection such as a cold sore, or a history of poor wound healing. In some cases we will look at another option instead. Skin that is very inflamed and actively breaking out usually does better on a course of chemical peels. A dedicated acne laser is another option to try first.
A HydraFacial is a medical-grade facial that does in one session what a shelf of skincare cannot. It runs on patented Vortex-Fusion technology, a spiral tip that cleanses and exfoliates. Meanwhile it drives serums deep into the skin and lifts debris out of the pores at the same time. Nothing is squeezed and nothing stings. Most people find the whole thing quietly relaxing.
The treatment moves through clear stages. It opens with lymphatic drainage to get circulation moving and flush toxins. Then a gentle exfoliation and resurfacing uncovers fresh skin. A painless vacuum then clears the pores while intense moisturisers go in. Your skin is saturated with antioxidants and peptides to hold the glow. Finally we finish with red and infrared LED light therapy to calm redness and encourage collagen.
The point of all that is not a facial that feels nice for an afternoon. Every day your skin meets pollution, UV and stress. The free radicals they create quietly break skin cells down over time. The antioxidants a HydraFacial drives in help neutralise that damage rather than just sitting on the surface.
The measure of a good facial is skin that is genuinely healthier afterwards, not simply glowing for the evening. A HydraFacial offers a calm, controlled way to clean, feed and protect the skin in a single visit. So it suits almost every patient who walks through the door. At MediZen the treatment sits within a doctor-led clinic under the care of Dr David Eccleston.
Our signature treatment is the Hollywood HydraFacial, and it is exclusive to MediZen. It takes the full skin-health HydraFacial and layers on the extras that turn a good result into a standout one. That is why it is quietly our team’s favourite treatment to give.
On top of the standard treatment you choose a booster targeted to your skin. That could be anti-ageing, blemish-prone skin, scarring or collagen support. From there the treatment adds a full round of LED light therapy to even out tone and soften pigmentation. It also includes a Perk lip treatment to plump and hydrate. Then a Perk eye treatment brightens and firms the delicate skin around the eyes.
If you want to go further still, we combine the HydraFacial with Laser Genesis to create HydraGenesis. Laser Genesis is delivered on our excel V+ laser. It gently warms the deeper layers of skin to build new collagen, refine pores and calm redness. So you get the instant HydraFacial glow with a longer-term lift in skin quality. We pair the HydraFacial with faceStim and micro-needling too when firmness and texture are the priority.
Whichever version you choose, the finish is the same. Your skin looks brighter and feels smoother the moment you sit up, with no downtime and nowhere to hide it. That is exactly what makes it such an easy treatment to book before an event. In a recent patient survey, 94% rated their overall experience with us as good or very good. In addition, 95% said their results were good or very good.
A HydraFacial and a salon facial can look similar on paper, and both feel lovely. The difference is in how far the results go and how long they hold. Here is an honest comparison so you can pick the right one for your skin and your budget.
“The absolute best care at MediZen, especially Hydrafacials with Annabelle!! Every HydraFacial begins with a skin assessment. So the serums and any boosters are matched to what your skin needs on the day. A single treatment gives you an instant result. A skin membership spreads the cost if you want to keep it up month to month.
For the Hollywood HydraFacial and HydraGenesis, your aesthetician confirms the price at your consultation. That happens once we know which add-ons suit your skin. You can also see our skin memberships or the full price list.
Still weighing up a HydraFacial in Birmingham? These are the questions our patients ask most about the treatment itself, from comfort and downtime to how often to book. If you want to know about a specific skin concern or the cost, have a look at the section just below.
For most people, yes. A HydraFacial cleanses, exfoliates, clears the pores and infuses active serums in one 60-minute session, and you see the result the moment you sit up. It is one of the few facials where the glow is immediate and the skin-health benefit builds with regular visits, which is why so many of our Birmingham patients keep it in their routine.
No. There is no needling and no squeezing. Most people describe it as a cool, gentle massage with a slight tugging sensation as the tip lifts debris out of the pores. It is genuinely one of the more relaxing treatments we offer.
Around 60 minutes for a standard HydraFacial. If you add boosters or go for the Hollywood HydraFacial, allow a little longer. It is short enough to fit into a lunch break and still walk out glowing.
None. Your skin may look a touch pink for a few minutes, but you can wear makeup and go straight back to work or out for the evening. That lack of downtime is exactly why it is such a popular treatment before an event.
Once a month keeps skin at its best, since the results tend to hold for 4 to 6 weeks. Some people come every other month for maintenance, and others book a single treatment before a specific occasion. Your aesthetician will suggest a rhythm that suits your skin.
You will notice smoother, brighter, better-hydrated skin straight away, and that usually lasts around 4 to 6 weeks. Booking monthly keeps your skin in that freshly treated state rather than letting it drift back.
For a one-off glow before an event, a single treatment does the job. If you are working on congestion, dullness or early ageing, a course of three to six sessions spaced about four weeks apart gives the skin time to build on each visit. Many of our Birmingham patients then settle into a monthly treatment to hold the result.
Very little is needed. Leave active skincare such as retinols and exfoliating acids for three to five days beforehand, arrive with clean skin and no makeup if we are treating your face, and skip alcohol the day before. If you have had anti-wrinkle injections or dermal filler recently, allow two weeks before your HydraFacial.
Keep things simple for the first day or two. Avoid heavy exfoliation, saunas and direct sun, and wear a daily SPF to protect the fresh skin you have just uncovered. Following the routine your aesthetician recommends, often built around a few well-chosen medical-grade skincare products, is the single best way to make the glow last.
Yes. Unlike more intensive treatments, a HydraFacial leaves the skin barrier intact, so makeup goes on straight away and often sits better than usual. Plenty of patients book a treatment on their lunch break and head back to the office or out for the evening looking refreshed.
Yes. The HydraFacial works on every skin type and tone, because your aesthetician chooses the serums and settings to match your skin. Oily and breakout-prone skin, dry and sensitive skin, and mature skin can all be treated with the right adjustments.
Usually yes, and many people with sensitive or reactive skin tolerate it well because there is no harsh scrubbing or squeezing. We calm the skin with a soothing serum and finish with LED light therapy to settle any redness. If persistent facial redness or rosacea is your main concern, our excel V+ laser is often the more targeted option, and your aesthetician will talk you through both.
In most cases yes, and it is one of the gentler treatments to have during pregnancy because there are no needles, no strong acids and no downtime. We do adjust the serums and skip certain boosters, so let your aesthetician know at your consultation and we will tailor the treatment safely around you.
There is no strict cut-off, and the treatment is popular across a wide age range. Younger patients tend to book it for congestion and breakouts, while older patients come for hydration, brightness and early ageing. For anyone under 18 we ask for parental consent and assess whether a HydraFacial is genuinely the right choice.
Both resurface the skin, but they go about it differently. Microdermabrasion buffs the surface with abrasive crystals or a diamond tip, whereas a HydraFacial uses water and gentle suction to exfoliate while it infuses serums, so it feels far kinder on the skin. For stubborn texture or pigmentation we may suggest pairing it with a course of chemical peels for a deeper result.
It can. The same cleanse, exfoliate and hydrate steps work beautifully on the neck and chest, which show ageing and sun exposure just as the face does. A back treatment, sometimes called a back facial, is a favourite for clearing congestion and breakouts in an area that is hard to reach yourself.
Side effects are minimal and uncommon, usually no more than brief redness. A HydraFacial is not suitable if you have an active skin infection such as a cold sore, have been treated for severe acne in the last 12 months, or have a history of poor skin healing. We check all of this at your consultation and will suggest an alternative if it is not right for you.
Yes, and it pairs beautifully. Our most popular combination is HydraGenesis, a HydraFacial with Laser Genesis on our excel V+ laser for a longer-term lift in skin quality. We also combine it with faceStim toning and micro-needling when the goal is firmness and texture.
Wondering whether a HydraFacial is right for your particular skin, or what it costs in Birmingham? These are the questions we hear most about treating individual concerns, along with pricing and how the different HydraFacials compare.
It can help a great deal. A HydraFacial clears away the dead skin, congestion and bacteria that feed breakouts, so it is a useful part of managing acne-prone skin. If your skin is very inflamed and actively breaking out, a facial may not be the right starting point, and a course of AviClear acne laser or chemical peels often works better first. For the wider picture on acne, the NHS acne guidance is a sensible read, and we will always point you to the most effective option for your skin.
Yes. Regular HydraFacials lift away surface pigment and, with a brightening booster, help even out brown spots and superficial sun damage over time. For deeper or stubborn pigmentation we may suggest combining it with laser or a course of peels, and your aesthetician will map out the right plan.
It is one of the best treatments for dull, tired skin. The exfoliation and deep hydration plump the surface and soften the look of fine lines straight away, and the antioxidants and peptides support healthier skin the more regularly you come. For a firmer, longer-term result we often add Laser Genesis as HydraGenesis.
It is one of our favourite pre-event treatments. Because there is no downtime, you get an instant glow with nothing to hide. We usually suggest booking around 5 days before the day itself, which gives your skin time to settle and look its absolute best in photos.
Very much so. Men’s skin tends to be thicker, oilier and more prone to congestion and ingrown hairs, all of which a HydraFacial handles well. It is a straightforward, no-fuss treatment with no downtime, which makes it an easy first step for men in Birmingham who want clearer, healthier skin without a complicated routine.
The standard HydraFacial cleanses, exfoliates, extracts and hydrates. The Hollywood HydraFacial, which is exclusive to MediZen, adds a targeted booster, a full round of LED light therapy, and Perk lip and eye treatments for an all-round result. It is our team’s favourite, and the one to book when you want the complete experience.
A HydraFacial at MediZen starts from £175, with a skin membership from £80 per month if you want to keep it up regularly. The Hollywood HydraFacial and HydraGenesis are priced at your consultation, once we know which boosters or add-ons suit your skin. You can see everything on our full price list.
